The German Invasion of Crete
By Peter Stahl
Stanford USA, 1972

This is a large format photographic account of the airborne invasion of Crete, 20 May-2 June 1941. Text and captions in English.

Soft-cover, 215mm x 275mm, slight damage to bottom right of front cover, otherwise good condition.

One copy only

There are twelve pages of text and 96 of photos, some full-page, with English captions; all black and white. Back cover had two colour plates of men in uniforms. There are many battle sketches by German war artists.

Some photos are now well-known, but others are not.

Included is a full page item from the newspaper ‘The Sun’, Tuesday 17 August 1976, about the battle, and how a German-speaking Australian officer deduced the meaning of the German ground signals and used them to have the Luftwaffe drop to his unit food, water and ammunition, and to direct an air attack onto a German position. This is not part of the book itself but is in it as an addition.
